I think we can agree that "Uptown Funk" is the song of the year thus far. Whether you are sick of it or not doesn't matter because it's obvious how far this song has reached. Even my mom loves the song, and she wouldn't be able to name one song made in the last ten years. The man behind the track is none other than Mark Ronson. Young people have been familiar with Ronson for a long time, whether its from his DJ days in the coolest rooms in NY or from his award winning project with Amy Winehouse. The man has great vision and taste and his choice in clothing shows.
"818 PT. 1" BY ME
I'm in Miami now headed back to L.A. then headed off to vacation with my wonderful girlfriend in London, Paris, and the South of France. I wanted to make a mix for my travels to share with y'all. I'm happy to have been born in the valley, and ecstatic that I get to travel and make & play music. I'm way up I feel blessed, pun intended. Enjoy the mix!
NIKE WHITE AND GUM PACK
This pack is supposed to be released any day but I can't seem to find much info on it. It seems to only be releasing on the Japanese site ATMOS but the site seems to navigate in only Japanese. My favorite from the bunch are the Huaraches but they are all worthy of getting if you can find them. All white trainers will be big this spring/summer. I will post more info when I know the deal. For now you can salivate on these pics.
Matt Hitt is the kind of kid that makes you hate him before even meeting him. He's a successful model, he is lead singer of the indie band the Drowners, and his longtime girlfriend is actress Dakota Johnson from Fifty Shades of Grey. But we are paying homage to him because he's an impeccable dresser. The 26 year old dresses like the coolest hipster you know, only COOLER. Keep it up Matt, we dig it.
"DOUBTED" BY ILOVEMAKONNEN
Atlanta rappers and artists are the true rock stars of music right now. They have always been the quirky, off-beat talents in pop culture and ILOVEMAKONNEN continues the tradition. Most of you know him from the "Goin' Up on a Tuesday" fame but his whole EP is worth listening to as we roll into the summer. "Doubted" is a stand out from the bunch. Enjoy!
Tie dye thrasher hoodies and tees
This look is special. It works on punkers, skaters, and hiphop artists alike and if you aren't one of those you can still pick up some tie dye and catch that attention. Tie dye has made a huge comeback and I guarantee people will eat it up when you wear it out. The only problem is these particular pieces are very difficult to find. Use your resources and try and find another edgy classic brand doing some tie dye if you can't score a Thrasher piece.
Adidas track pants with Air Jordans
I know my last post was about keeping it simple but if you're just cooling out, I LOVE this look that I've been spotting around the country lately. Uber hip black guys wearing slim adidas track pants with Air Jordan's. It's such a contradiction that it just works magnificently. Wiz pulls it off perfectly above. Take note cool kids and make sure the Adidas pants are as slim as you can find.
Ok, I know the sneaker craze isn't going away anytime soon but please don't stress. I love sneakers. I love Jordan's. I have at least 20 pairs of Jordan's in my closet that are rare and almost untouched. Let me say it again, I LOVE JORDANS. As much as I love looking at these Jordan's you can't really wear them out. There's a select handful of people I've seen wear basketball shoes out daily that make them work. I'm not one of those people and you probably aren't either.
I know when I usually feature sneakers they are expensive and hard to find but there's plenty of options that not only work, but will look better on you than those expensive "hype best" trainers.
Keep it simple gentlemen. You can spend less than $80 on these shoes and look better than the man who dropped $300+ on his.
Converse All-Stars and Jack Purcells have been around for 50 plus years and there is a reason why. They look good with everything, they work on anybody, and they are under $50 which makes everyone happy. NEVER get the ones that slip on or any of the John Varvatos editions.
Another smart choice is the classic from Superga. Europeans have been on top of the shoe game for years with these. They come in high and low top and you can find any color you want. They also look great for women.
Adidas is back on top these days thanks to the numerous celeb designers that have signed up to release their own trainers but it's clear their classics will continue to be the stand outs. The Rod Laver and the Stan Smith were weirdly enough my two favorite shoes growing up in high school and that was not dumb luck.
ACNE "ROC TWILL" CHINOS
Spring is coming soon and you are definitely going to want to have some comfy chinos to lounge around in. Chinos are great because you wear them out and look good, be comfortable, and leave sweats out of the equation. You can also roll the cuffs and thrown on some vans and feel beach ready or pair them with dress shoes and a button down for dinner.
ACNE makes my favorite pair. They fit slim, but not too slim. You don't want it to look like your thighs are busting out of your pants. They come in a few different colors like beige, navy blue, and grey and retail for $180.
DOVER STREET MARKET X DR MARTENS X COMME DES GARCONS homme deux
3 names that are synonymous with cool in men's fashion have brought back the line they released years ago that I missed out on. I've only seen them carried at the Dover Street Market store in NY. They don't seem to pop up for purchase online, even on eBay. My favorite out of the bunch is the red mid. They retail for around $350.
